1 in 3 women will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime. Survivors are often isolated from support networks and financial resources by their abusers, which puts them at risk of becoming homeless. As a result, they may lack steady income, employment history, credit history, and transportation. They also often suffer from anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, major depression, and substance abuse.

Children witness over 50% of domestic abuse incidents. Children who witness domestic violence are at an increased risk for post-traumatic stress disorder, aggressive behavior, anxiety, impaired development, difficulty interacting with peers, academic problems, and substance abuse. Additionally, about one-third of children who experience abuse or neglect as victims themselves grow up to become abusers or neglectful parents, continuing the cycle of abuse.

While a mom attends classes, therapy, or case management, her children are only a room away, receiving programming tailored specifically to them. Children receive support group, daily programming to grow emotional and relational skills, and 1:1 tutoring.
Our current children’s program space accommodates 18 children, but we need space for at least 40.
To continue accepting both mothers and children into our program, we have to expand our programming space. In January 2025, God began opening doors for what will be the largest expansion in organization history!

Where women and children have a safe place to sleep. By converting our current program and office space to a residential home, our total capacity will increase from 32 to 40 bedrooms.

Where women have private office space to dream about their careers, research job and educational opportunities, complete applications, interview, and print necessary materials.
Fitness Center
Where women heal holistically and build healthy routines without transportation or emotional safety barriers.

The Dwelling Place closed on the Program Center. Thanks to the incredible generosity of donors, The Dwelling Place purchased the building in cash, remaining a debt-free organization.
Renovations began to create spaces designed specifically to help women and children heal and rebuild lives after abuse.
