The Dwelling Place Opens Expanded Program Center to Serve More Women and Children Escaping Domestic Violence
Ribbon cutting celebrates major milestone in expanding safety, healing, and hope for families in our community
North Metro, Minn. - The Dwelling Place, a Christ-centered transitional housing ministry serving women and children escaping domestic violence, will celebrate the grand opening of its expanded Program Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, July 29.
The celebration marks the completion of a major expansion that will provide additional programming space, licensed childcare, and increased housing capacity for families rebuilding their lives after domestic violence. Local elected officials, community leaders, donors, volunteers, and ministry partners will join the celebration.
The new Program Center represents a significant investment in helping families move beyond crisis and toward long-term stability. The expanded space allows The Dwelling Place to provide enhanced programming for both women and children, including classrooms, gathering spaces, wellness programming, career development resources, and a licensed full-day child development center opening this fall. The expansion will also increase residential capacity from 32 to 40 bedrooms, allowing more families to find safety and begin rebuilding their lives.
The Dwelling Place provides transitional housing and comprehensive support services that help women and children heal from the trauma of abuse, rebuild their lives, and establish lasting independence. Families typically remain in the program for up to 24 months while receiving individualized support, life-skills education, counseling resources, children's programming, financial coaching, and spiritual care. Services are available to families regardless of religious affiliation.
"This building represents far more than bricks and mortar," said Jenna Perez, Executive Director of The Dwelling Place. "It represents safety for families fleeing abuse, hope for mothers rebuilding their lives, and a place where children can begin to heal and thrive. We are deeply grateful to the donors, volunteers, churches, and community partners who made this vision possible."
Domestic violence continues to affect thousands of Minnesota families each year, creating an ongoing need for safe housing and comprehensive support services. The expanded Program Center strengthens The Dwelling Place's ability to respond to that need while preparing for future residential expansion that will increase the number of women and children the ministry can serve.
